Kiros Alemayehu born in Saesi Tsaedaemba in Tigray, was a celebrated Tigrigna singer, songwriter, lyricist, and krar player. He rose to national acclaim in the early 1980s after joining Ras Theatre and popularized Tigrigna music among non-Tigrigna speakers. His songs like “Selam Hawa”, “Fililiy”, “Anguay Fisis” and others delivered poetic reflections on life’s joy and struggles. In 1991 he released an album featuring iconic tracks such as “Megalewa / መጋሌዋ”, “Baeley kimalealki / ባዕለይ ክማለአኪ” and “Aye kujina / አየቁንጅና”
